A Beautiful Summer Wedding in Rochester, NY
There are some wedding days that seem to have a little bit of everything. Beautiful locations, emotional first looks, heartfelt vows, hilarious speeches, incredible golden hour light, and a couple whose personalities shine through every part of their wedding film.
Emily and Kendall’s June 27th, 2026 wedding was exactly that.
Their wedding day took us to two beautiful Rochester, NY locations, beginning and ending at Irondequoit Country Club with their ceremony taking place nearby at Linehan Chapel at Nazareth University. From finishing touches at the Country Club in the morning to an absolutely gorgeous golden hour portrait session on the golf course later that evening, Irondequoit Country Club created such an elegant backdrop for their wedding film.
But as beautiful as the setting was, what made this wedding so much fun to capture was Emily and Kendall themselves.
Their story is one filled with friendship, humor, Disneyland trips, an apparently questionable knowledge of auto mechanics, and two people who everyone around them seems to agree simply make sense together.
From 290 West Street to Wedding Day
Emily and Kendall’s story began years before their wedding day at UMass Amherst.
290 West Street played a pivotal role in these two meeting. Emily lived on one side while several of Kendall’s friends lived on the other. The two had crossed paths before, but according to Emily’s dad, there was one particular cold Massachusetts day that helped bring them together.
Emily was talking to her dad on the phone because her car was making a strange noise. When she arrived back at 290 West Street, Kendall came over to see if he could help.
As everyone learned later, Kendall is apparently not exactly an auto mechanic.
But he was the kind of person who would walk over and try to help anyway.
And maybe that tells you more about Kendall than actually knowing how to fix the car ever could.
Their first date apparently went pretty well too, at least until Kendall ended the evening by telling Emily, “I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.”
Not exactly the most romantic closing line.
Emily joked during the rehearsal dinner that she felt like she had just been rejected from a job interview.
Thankfully, she gave him another chance.
Years later, their friends and family gathered in Rochester to witness Emily and Kendall become husband and wife.
Getting Ready at Irondequoit Country Club
Emily and Kendall both completed their finishing touches at Irondequoit Country Club, which gave us the opportunity to begin telling their wedding story at the same place everyone would return to celebrate later that evening.
Located just minutes from downtown Rochester, Irondequoit Country Club sits on 130 acres of beautifully manicured grounds. The rolling landscape and golf course create an incredible amount of variety for wedding portraits and videography throughout the day.
The morning of a wedding always carries a completely different energy than the reception that follows. There is excitement, anticipation, a little nervousness, and usually a whole lot happening at once.
Those quieter finishing touch moments are some of my favorites to capture because they establish the beginning of the wedding film before everything starts moving incredibly quickly.
And before Emily and Kendall headed to their ceremony, there was one very important moment still waiting for them.
An Emotional First Look
First looks have a way of temporarily slowing down an otherwise incredibly busy wedding day.
For Emily and Kendall, their first look at Irondequoit Country Club gave them a chance to see one another and take in the fact that the day they had spent so long planning was finally here.
It also gave us the opportunity to take advantage of the Country Club grounds for their bridal portraits and wedding party portraits before heading to the ceremony.
As a Rochester wedding videographer, this is one of the things I loved most about filming at Irondequoit Country Club. There is so much beautiful outdoor space available without having to travel between portrait locations. The manicured grounds, mature landscape, and sweeping views of the golf course provide so many different backdrops within one property.
And somehow, those views would become even better later in the evening.
A Wedding Ceremony at Linehan Chapel at Nazareth University
After portraits, everyone made the short trip to Linehan Chapel at Nazareth University for Emily and Kendall’s wedding ceremony.
Their ceremony incorporated touches of Jewish tradition while keeping the focus firmly on the promises the two were making to each other.
Surrounded by family and friends, Emily and Kendall exchanged rings and promised to stand beside one another and share their lives together.
The officiant spoke about marriage as both a profound privilege and a deep responsibility.
Marriage means standing together through the joyful moments and the challenging ones while continuing to choose one another every day.
That sentiment could not have fit Emily and Kendall’s vows more perfectly.
Kendall promised to support Emily’s dreams, make time for Disneyland trips, laugh with her when life is simple, and stand beside her when life becomes difficult. He called Emily his missing puzzle piece, his other half, and his best friend.
Emily's vows carried that same sense of partnership.
She promised to be Kendall’s teammate through all of life’s twists and turns, to cherish the qualities that make him who he is, and to love him unconditionally.
Even, she added, when he attempts to limit her Disneyland visits.
One of my favorite lines from the entire day came at the end of Emily’s vows. She promised to listen to Kendall and to try to “be where my feet are.”
And on that particular day, that was easy.
Her feet were standing directly in front of her soulmate.
With their vows exchanged, rings placed, and promises made, Kendall broke the glass and the newlyweds walked back down the aisle together as husband and wife.
Two People Who Bring Out the Best in Each Other
One of the best parts of wedding videography is getting to know a couple through the people who know them best.
And if there was one message repeated throughout Emily and Kendall’s wedding speeches, it was this:
They bring out the best in each other.
Emily was described as sweet, funny, joyful, and a passionate advocate for others. Her dad spoke about watching her grow from the little girl who constantly made him laugh into a woman he is incredibly proud of.
Kendall’s friends painted an equally wonderful, and often hilarious, picture of him.
One friend described Kendall as a “cult classic” and “everyone’s favorite friend.” Stories stretched all the way back to middle school, when friendships were apparently forged through failed attempts at art class and trying to sew pajama pants in Home and Careers.
Another friend remembered seeing Kendall and Emily together for the first time and immediately noticing something different.
Emily never stopped smiling.
Kendall had a calmness about him that his friend had never seen before.
Years later, that had not changed.
Friends described Emily as a natural complement to Kendall, someone whose warmth and calmness fit effortlessly alongside his personality.
Their connection wasn't something their friends needed to explain.
You could simply see it.
A Reception at Irondequoit Country Club Filled With Laughter
After the ceremony at Nazareth University, everyone returned to Irondequoit Country Club to celebrate.
The Club describes its wedding experience as one of “understated elegance,” and that is a fitting description for the atmosphere Emily and Kendall created for their reception.
Irondequoit Country Club's elegantly appointed reception spaces overlook the golf course and surrounding grounds, providing a beautiful setting for a Rochester wedding reception while still feeling warm and inviting once the celebration gets underway.
And this group was ready to celebrate.
The speeches were easily one of the highlights of the reception.
There were stories about middle school, college, friendship, family, Disneyland, fantasy football, the infamous first date comment, and even the bridesmaids and photographers somehow getting stuck in a hot elevator for 30 minutes (!!!).
But underneath all of the jokes was an incredible amount of love.
Again and again, friends and family talked about how deeply Emily and Kendall care for the people around them and how naturally they fit into each other's lives.
One toast summed it up perfectly: Their connection is clear to everyone who meets them.
They simply make sense together.
Golden Hour on the Golf Course
And then came my favorite part of the day.
Golden hour.
If you are considering an Irondequoit Country Club wedding, make time in your timeline for sunset portraits on the golf course.
Seriously.
Irondequoit Country Club's rolling golf course and beautifully maintained grounds were already gorgeous throughout the afternoon, but as the sun began getting lower in the sky, the entire property changed.
The softer evening light spread across the course and gave Emily and Kendall a few quiet minutes away from the reception to simply be together.
From a wedding videography perspective, this was an absolute dream.
Golden hour is often one of the most cinematic parts of a wedding day. The harsh midday light disappears, movement becomes softer, and couples finally have a moment when there isn't somewhere else they immediately need to be.
For Emily and Kendall, it was the perfect setting.
After the anticipation of the morning, their first look, wedding party portraits, ceremony, family photos, entrances, dances, and everything else that comes with a wedding day, they finally had a few minutes to walk across the course together as newlyweds.
Those are the moments I love capturing.
Not just beautiful portraits, but the little looks, laughs, movements, and interactions in between them.
And on June 27th, the golf course at Irondequoit Country Club absolutely delivered.
Why Irondequoit Country Club Is Beautiful for Rochester Wedding Videography
After filming Emily and Kendall's wedding, it is easy to understand why couples choose Irondequoit Country Club for weddings in Rochester, NY.
The property combines an elegant reception setting with 130 acres of manicured grounds and beautiful views, all while being only minutes from downtown Rochester. For couples who want outdoor portrait opportunities without sacrificing a polished indoor reception experience, it offers both.
From a videographer's perspective, I especially loved the variety.
We were able to capture finishing touches, the first look, wedding party portraits, reception coverage, and golden hour without making the day feel like one long trip between locations.
The golf course is the standout for me.
If beautiful wedding photos and cinematic wedding videography are important to you, having that kind of scenery immediately outside your reception venue is incredibly valuable. And if the timeline allows for even 10 or 15 minutes outside as the sun gets lower, take advantage of it.
Emily and Kendall's golden hour footage is exactly why.
Choosing Each Other Every Day
Beautiful wedding venues matter.
The dress matters. The flowers matter. The carefully planned details matter.
And yes, to this Rochester wedding videographer, incredible golden hour light definitely matters.
But years from now, the most important parts of Emily and Kendall's wedding film will be the things that could never be recreated.
The sound of their voices as they exchanged vows.
Emily promising to be where her feet are.
Kendall promising to stand beside her through life's challenges.
A dad talking about how proud he is of the woman his daughter has become.
Friends who have known Kendall since they were 11 years old standing beside him on his wedding day.
And an entire room erupting in laughter over stories that only make sense when you've shared years of life together.
That is why I love wedding videography.
Emily and Kendall's wedding at Irondequoit Country Club was absolutely beautiful, but their film gets to preserve something even more important: what this chapter of their lives sounded and felt like while they were living it.
Congratulations, Emily and Kendall.
Here's to Disneyland trips, being teammates through life's twists and turns, continuing to make each other laugh, and choosing each other every single day.
And, of course, here's to always being where your feet are.
