A complete breakdown of the gear I use to film weddings — for clients who want to learn and interested filmmakers. From the Eyes of a Wedding Filmmaker: Why Gear Matters As a seasoned wedding videographer, my gear bag isn’t just a collection of tools — it’s the backbone of the emotional stories I am afforded the privilege to tell. Whether I’m filming golden-hour vows on a lake or documenting a teary first look in a tucked-away garden, the gear I choose plays a direct role in how smoothly (and beautifully) a wedding day is captured. My goal as a wedding videographer is not only to capture these once in a lifetime moments, but do to so in a minimally invasive manner. Also known as, * drum roll for trend word alert *: documentary style videography! This blog is for: Engaged couples who are curious about what goes on behind the scenes before your big day, and behind the lens on your wedding day, Beginner and intermediate videographers looking to build or refine their wedding videography kit, and Creatives who want an honest look into real-world, wedding-tested gear. Here’s everything I carry, why I carry it, and how it performs on a wedding day. Please keep in mind that this list of bases, lenses, audio gear, and other essentials has been intentionally and thoughtfully chosen. Pieces have been switched out if they didn't serve a purpose. My ultimate goal is to be able to carry all of this videography gear in one trip, all by myself. My fear is becoming one of those people who has a whole trolly's worth of gear, which would lead to even more decision fatigue on the day of the wedding. By having less options to choose from, I find myself constantly finding creative workaround and solutions, which further propels me as a wedding videographer. Cameras: My Primary Workhorses Sony a7siii – The Cinematic Beast & Low Light Legend The Sony a7S III is one of those cameras that lives in legend — and for good reason. It’s built specifically for video shooters, and while it’s part of the Alpha series, it feels like Sony made this body for wedding filmmakers who are in fast-paced, unpredictable environments and need a camera that won’t flinch . This is my go-to low-light monster . When the lights dim for the reception, when the couple has a candlelit first dance, or when I’m capturing a sparkler exit in near darkness — this camera performs flawlessly . It’s known across the industry for its unbeatable low-light sensitivity and reliable 4K performance. Best for Ceremonies, speeches, cinematic shots, low light environments, and handheld footage. Why I love it It’s mirrorless power for gun and run shooting of a wedding day. You may ask yourself, why not choose the Sony FX3 ? While this full frame camera is an absolute beast for filmmaking, I didn't want to totally limit myself to just video. I do use this versatile base for photography as well. The FX3 also came to the market a couple years after I had chosen my set up, and would have to switch out my B- and C- cameras for the FX30 for consistency. I like the hybrid nature of the A7siii. Sony A7iii– The Hybrid Hero & Workhorse My B- and C-cameras are the Sony A7iii, a reliable, versatile hybrid with killer video capabilities. It matches the a7siii in color profiles (S-Log3, S-Cinetone), so it integrates seamlessly into a ceremony or speeches multi-cam workflow. These are also amazing video quality if I happen to need to upgrade them to my A-camera on the day of the wedding. Best for Second and (potentially) third angles during ceremony and speeches, if space allows. Why I love it Flip screen, versatile, and stunning video at a more approachable price. Lenses: Versatility & Depth in Glass Photographers and videographers tend to fall into two types of ride or dies: either they (1) looooove their prime lenses or they are (2) obsessed with their zoom lenses. I started off my videography career as a prime lens girlie and did a hard 180 pivot to the zoom lenses once I drank the Kool-aid. Now, I'd say I lie somewhere closer to the middle, utilizing my zoom lens for about 75% of the day, with 25% utilizing a prime lens on my A-camera. They both have their place, and are often interchanged based on lighting, how much movement we will be doing, the timing and pace of the day, along with the style of shooting that the photographer takes. It's assessing the environment to understand what tool will work best and give the best clips, shots, and angles. A lot of the times I make the active choice to work around the photographer, and noticed I was missing shots or could have gotten better ones if I didn't have to physically move around to compensate and just instead zoomed in or out. Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM - Dreamy Footage For Everyone This lens is always on one of my bodies. It's perfect for handheld shots during prep, wide scenes at receptions, or walking shots with the couple. I'm also just obsessed with this focal length in general. Slapping this on an a7iii allows me to take advantage of both the 35 mm and 50 mm focal lengths with the APSC crop sensor too. Best for Prep, couple portraits, establishing shots, low light settings such as a moody portrait session or on the reception dance floor after sunset. Why I love it Lightweight and incredibly sharp with smooth autofocus. Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II - The Ultimate Workhorse Zoom If I had to carry only one  lens to a wedding — from prep to party — it would be the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II. This second-generation zoom has become a core part of my kit because it’s just that versatile. Whether I’m quickly adjusting focal lengths during a fast-paced ceremony or grabbing candid shots at a reception, this lens keeps up with every unpredictable moment of a wedding day. I can capture every moment, from a variety of focal lengths, while also working around the photographer. The GM II is sharper, lighter, and faster than the original version, and it plays beautifully with Sony’s newer bodies like the a7S III. For hybrid shooters and wedding filmmakers who need flexibility without  sacrificing image quality, this is the go-to glass. Best for Literally everything. Prep, ceremony, private vows, speeches, dances. Don't sleep on this lens, it is whole-heartedly worth the investment. Why I love it This lens is the Swiss Army knife  in my camera bag. It gives me the flexibility to go from a wide shot of the ceremony space to a tight, intimate frame of the couple exchanging vows — without swapping lenses or breaking stride . Note: I also use a Sony 24-70 mm f/4 Zeiss on the Sony a7iii combination at ceremony and speeches. I am a fan of the color profile that Zeiss produces on the Sony body, and at a 1/3 of the cost of the beefy G-Master version. And this combo was honestly my starting set up when getting into the wedding industry. The OSS in this lens is also clutch, and sometimes I use this lens on my Sony a7siii if I know we are going to be moving around a lot. Sony 70-200mm f/4 GM OSS II - Intimacy from a Distance The ceremony killer . With this lens, I can stay out of the way while capturing tight, emotional moments at a distance. It’s tack-sharp and incredibly useful for church weddings or large outdoor ceremonies. This one rounds out the focal length spectrum nicely, giving an ultimate range from 24-200 mm between two lenses. Best for Ceremonies, speeches, reactions, tight shots taken from a distance. Why I love it It’s heavy, but worth it for flexibility and compression, and can easily be mounted on a tripod. Note: One day in the future I will upgrade to the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II . But for now, since this lens is only functional on my secondary bases, the f/4 gets the job done flawlessly. Audio: The Separator For me, the difference between a good and great wedding videographer is their audio. Each year, I learn a little bit more, and step up on audio a bit more. This year, I feel very confident that I have all my bases covered, and have quality back up plans B, C, D, and E, if plan A seems to fail for whatever reason. On Camera: Rode VideoMic Pro+ Shotgun Mic An incredible shotgun mic that mounts directly to the hot shoe of the Sony a7siii and delivers clean onboard scratch audio. Best for Ambient sound capture throughout the day. Why I love it Light, long-lasting rechargeable battery, compact and ultra-clear sound. On Officiant & Groom: PicoGear PicoMic Wireless Lavalier System 2x A lot of people choose the Tascam DR-10Ls , which I have used and worked with in the past. As a personal preference, I like one that I can already have recording, and quickly get on and off the officiant and groom. With the DR-10Ls, you have to clip the mic, then ask them to button their suit, and shove it in their back pant pocket. And you may just be out of luck if you have an officiant who happens to be a woman in a dress. These PicoPics are wireless, hold signal at a far range, and record directly with the camera you connect it to. You can easily clip them onto the guys, and is more discreet than the DJI or RODE wireless mic counterparts. I also like to "hide" these mics on the bride and groom's sweetheart table during the speeches to make sure I pick up their verbal reactions, too. Best for Live event environments with variable movement Why I love it Discrete and fast. Great for ceremony or reception mics. On Microphone & Officiant: Sony ICD-TX660 2x For more dynamic coverage and to really pick up on the bride's voice during the ceremony, I install one of the TX660's with a mic sleeve . This also serves as another option for quality audio from the ceremony as well. At first I had just one of these, and quickly purchased a second, knowing it would be useful in other scenarios. This is great when you don't have your second camera set up for the wireless mics and need quality audio for a first look tucked into the groom's or father of the bride's pocket and can quickly be retrieved. Best for Vows, speeches, toasts. Why I love it Discreet, long lasting battery, excellent quality audio. DJ System Plug In: Tascam DR-40X In the editing room, this tends to be the audio I work with and pull from. Anything said into a microphone enters into the DJs system and can be collected in an output plug on any speaker. Best for Plugging into a DJ's system. Why I love it Dual recording tracks (one with safety levels) = peace of mind. Support Gear SmallRig Full Camera Cage & Stop/Start Recording Handle For everything other than the ceremony and speeches, I am handheld. I have deep reservations against using a gimbal (you can see all my opinions in this blog post about what equipment the videographers uses). I can be nimble and reactive with a handheld device, and will be able to move around a lot quicker and have my wrists last throughout the day without the added weight of a gimbal. My husband calls my primary camera set up my "very expensive steering wheel". I chose the recording handle to have the capabilities of giving my left hand a start/stop button for recording. I still mostly do this with my left hand, but it has come in use on occasion, and honestly would allow me to option to customize the record button on the base to a quick key that is more useful. Manfrotto Monopod, XPRO Fluid Motion I utilize a monopod whenever we're going to be stationary for majority of filming: such as the cermeony and speeches. This allows me to move with the couple, and then set down the primary camera to be able to leave it in place while I check on the other two cameras. Manfrotto Tripod, Fluid Drag System 2x Tripods are where my B- and C-cameras hand out on during the ceremony and speeches. These ones are lightweight, and easily to set up and take down, with the reliable quick release plate for quick and easy set up. Random but Crucial Accessories You can never have too many Sony rechargeable batteries ! Along with Amazon essential AAs and AAAs as backup. I personally don't need AAAs, but keep them on hand in case anyone happens to need a backup. Lens cloths & Zeiss disposable lens cloths A NiSi VND filter for the A-camera and Zeiss polarizers for B- and C-cameras 3 types of cables to be able to hook into any DJ set up (without the DJ coming up with excuses why I cannot plug in. Yes, this has happened) iPhone mount for the primary camera (since content creating is becoming a thing!) In case of emergency kit: sewing kit, shoe buffers, Tylenol, Mentos, oil blotting strips, tissues, hot hands hand warmers. You name it. Anything that I have a thought of "oh, I should have had this to help!" always always always ends up in my bag for those clutch just-in-case moments. SD cards galore! I am certain I am missing something at this point. Takeaways: Advice for Couples and Creators For Couples: The gear your videographer carries isn’t just about fancy cameras — it’s about trust. I bring this kit because your story deserves to be documented with precision, care, and creativity. Everything is chosen to help your wedding video not just look  beautiful — but feel  authentic. For Videographers: This list wasn’t built overnight. My advice? Rent before you buy. My current tradition with my last wedding of the season is to rent the gear I may want to upgrade to for next season. Start with a solid hybrid camera and (1) versatile prime focal length (I prefer 35 mm, but the 50 mm FE f/1.8 is very lightweight and affordable at $250) and (2) a solid zoom lens ( 24-70 mm Zeiss OSS is great and under 1k). Then grow your kit with intent, based on how you shoot, what focal lengths you gravitate towards and where your creative instincts pull you. Shavonna & Jesse’s Wedding at The Ballroom at Carey Lake | A Story 13 Years in the Making The Wedding I Couldn’t Wait to Film As a wedding videographer, I’ve had the joy of capturing dozens of couples saying “I do.” But some weddings — and some couples — just stick with you for a lifetime. Shavonna and Jesse were one of those couples for me. From our first virtual conversation, I felt like I already knew them . They’ve been together for over 13 years — a story that began as college teammates on the track team. Their love wasn’t rushed. It was built with intention, strengthened by time, and beautifully unique. It was effortlessly glamorous and warm — a true reflection of Shavonna and Jesse’s style. Murray Vows That Moved the Room Jesse’s vows were incredibly heartfelt, and his authentic self shined through. “I promise to make you smile and laugh, mostly by telling bad jokes or the same stories you’ve heard seven times over,” he joked — before affirming his commitment to support, protect, and love her as her best friend and partner. Shavonna’s vows? Instant goosebumps. She shared how she knew Jesse was the one before  they even dated — observing him from afar as a teammate, seeing his kindness, humility, and strength. “You were the embodiment of what love is,” she said. Her words reflected wisdom beyond years, delivered with warmth, humor, and a soft steadiness that left not a dry eye in the room (mine included). Their vows were a blend of poetry, real-life grit, and deep soul connection. You don’t hear love like that every day — and getting to capture it was a creative and emotional honor I’ll never forget. Speeches That Spoke Volumes This wasn’t just a wedding — it was a gathering of people who knew  Shavonna and Jesse’s story and have been there since the beginning. From parents to siblings to college friends, every toast reflected the unique fabric of their relationship. One of my favorite moments? When Shavonna’s dad recounted how she once ran laps around a field as a little girl, and he realized she had a fire in her — a tenacity that track would one day hone, and love would one day cherish. And when he finished a story years in the making: handing Jesse back the $20 bet for brunch the next day, a bet won years ago, and that he had been saving in his dresser drawer for this day. Or when Jesse’s brother recalled being the best man at his own wedding and how Jesse had once said he  was the role model. “Truth is,” his brother said, “I’ve learned more from you than you’ve ever learned from me.” The couple and their friends shared stories of late-night hangouts, long-distance love, and snow-filled evenings turned into Michelin-star dinners in tiny apartments — the kind of anecdotes that reminded us all: it’s the everyday magic that makes a marriage. Personal Touches That Made the Day Unforgettable This was not a copy-paste wedding. From a multicultural guest list to non-traditional vows, everything about this day felt intentional . It was Shavonna and Jesse's day. Shavonna and Jesse didn’t just plan a celebration — they planned a statement. A joyful, inclusive, authentic reflection of their values. Lexie & Andrew’s Radiant Wedding at Ravenwood Golf Club | A Love That Runs Wild From Soccer Fields to Forever Some weddings feel like a dream — others feel like a chapter right out of your favorite love story. Lexie and Andrew’s wedding at the enchanting Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, New York was both. As a wedding videographer lucky enough to witness their day unfold, I left not just with (very!) full SD cards but a full heart. Lexie and Andrew’s journey began with a spark over shared snacks and late-night study sessions at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A friendship turned romance, nurtured by years of laughter, adventure, and deep understanding, culminating in a day filled with soulful vows, joyful dancing, and tearful toasts. The Ceremony: Laughter, Tears & Lifelong Promises Lexie’s smile lit up the aisle as she walked toward Andrew, who stood teary-eyed and beaming. Their vows were spoken with such intention and vulnerability — a reminder that true love isn’t just butterflies and grand gestures; it’s choosing each other every day. Lexie's nonno captured it perfectly: “A true marriage begins well before the wedding day… It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.”  The crowd nodded along, hearts swelling with emotion. The exchange of rings — warm, joyful, and a little bit giggly — had the entire crowd smiling. Andrew looked at Lexie as if he were seeing her for the first time, and Lexie’s vow to “not let him throw any more rocks”  was a cheeky callback to their childhood mischief, shared lovingly by Andrew’s brother in his speech. From heartfelt letters read aloud to moving family tributes, their day was stitched together with threads of humor, loyalty, and legacy. Look at that greenery in the background of Ravenwood Golf Club during the beginning of May! Come on!! General Information about Ravenwood Golf Club Weddings in this Venue Vendor Review Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to film wedding videos at Ravenwood Golf Club . As a wedding videographer, I had the pleasure of capturing a celebration at this venue and was impressed by its picturesque landscapes and attentive staff. It's even featured on another blog post for Rochester's top venues ! Ravenwood Golf Club offers an elegant setting for weddings, combining personalized service with exceptional value. If you haven't already, check out the blog post about Lexie and Andrew's wedding here , which took place at Ravenwood Golf Club! Ravenwood Golf Club, located in Victor, New York, is on the south east outskirts of the metropolitan area of Rochester, New York. With a quaint downtown full of locally run shops and restaurants, there is exploring to be done in the area. Located just outside of The Fingerlakes Wine country, nearby wineries include 20 Deep Winery and Song Hill Winery , and Casa Larga Vineyards (also a wedding venue!). and local beweriess, such as No BS Brew Company and Stumbling Monkey Brewing Company there is much to see and do! Venue Details Situated at 929 Lynaugh Road, Ravenwood Golf Club is easily accessible and provides ample complimentary parking for guests. The venue features meticulously maintained grounds, including a championship golf course and beautifully landscaped gardens, offering a variety of scenic backdrops ideal, for videography. The lush greenery, and vibrant flora enhance the visual storytelling of any wedding film. With the clubhouse perched on the hill overlooking the golf course, this wedding venue is no stranger to stunning wide shot sunset opportunities. Getting Ready Spaces Bridal Suite A newly revonated bridal suite was recently finished for the 2024 wedding season can hold up to 8 individuals comfortably. This is a perfect area to have hair and makeup done in privacy, located right off the also newly renovated bar area. The previous area that was the bridal suite can be utilized as a landing pad for the bride, groom, and wedding party. Ceremony Spaces The absolutely gorgeous backdrop of gardens for the outdoor ceremony space at Ravenwood. Note with this unedited still shot, how the couple, officiant, and bridal party had to strategically stand in the shade closer to the wedding guests, even with the officiant falling victim to some harsh lighting on his face. Outdoor Ceremony Option The expansive 2,700 sq. ft. garden area which features a hybrid indoor seating in the pavilion and a slightly elevated outdoor ceremony space adjacent to the Black Raven Banquet Room serves as a popular choice for majority of ceremonies held at the venue. With its manicured lawns and colorful flower beds, this space provides a romantic and serene environment, often including an arbor to compliment the backdrop. A ceremony held too early in the day will have direct sunlight cast on the ceremony scene, causing harsh shadows and squinting eyes, as there are not trees tall enough to cast blanketing shadows. However, the natural lighting during late afternoon ceremonies is particularly favorable, casting a warm, golden hue that enhances the cinematic quality of the footage. Utilizing this space earlier in the day for other photos such as a first look or bridal party can be easily accomplished as long as it is partially cloudy or overcast. Note with all of the images, both edited and unedited, to show you difference in what types of lighting you may have in the indoor seating verses outdoor ceremony area, depending on the time of year, time of ceremony, and overall weather. Although challenging to switch in between the drastically different lighting scenes of the vantage point from the ceremony looking inwards to watch the bride walk down the aisle, to turning around and looking out onto the ceremony scene, this task is well worth it and doable for a skilled videographer. During cocktail hour, the chairs are efficiently removed from the space by the attentive staff to reveal a large dance floor and mingling area, with a bar located on the far right wall. First dance time! Reception Spaces The Black Raven Banquet Room This spacious 3,000 sq. ft. room accommodates up to 250 guests and offers breathtaking views of the golf course through expansive floor to ceiling windows. The room's neutral color palette and elegant decor provide a versatile canvas for various wedding themes, featuring large circular tables for your guests to sit at. Enormous sliding glass doors open directly to the garden and a 2,700 sq. ft. covered pavilion, allowing for seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, and making the different spaces flow into one. From a videography perspective, the ample natural light and open layout facilitate dynamic and unobtrusive filming. Since toasts and speeches are often in the latter half of the wedding day, keep in mind that the backdrop to where the sweethearts table is located is typically in front of the large windows facing into the banquet room, which are west-facing. This can cause the person giving the speech, along with the bride and groom, to become backlit if done before sunset. Here are two of the solutions: know how to shoot backlit (left image) or have your speeches after sunset (left image). Therefore you have four options: (1) it is key for your videographer to have the expertise to properly expose their subjects in backlighting scenarios. Or (2) you can simply have your speeches and toasts occur after sunset (which is easier accomplished the further you get into the fall season), or (3) choose another exterior wall to place the sweetheart table, or (4) choose a different location for the bride, groom, and speech giver to be during this portion of the reception. The Birdseye Room This slightly smaller space at 800 sq. ft. with large windows as a backdrop is fantastic to consider for 45 guests or smaller weddings, and can even be considered for a bridal shower, rehearsal dinners, or the post wedding day brunch. There's even a quaint gazebo to incorporate into some shots as well! This is a beginning of May wedding at Ravenwood golf club. Notable Features for Videography Again with the stunning Ravenwood Golf Club greens in Rochester, NY. This is a beginning of August wedding. Scenic Backdrops: The venue's golf course and landscaped gardens offer numerous picturesque settings for capturing intimate moments and stunning visuals. Sunset shots on top of the rolling greens or near the charming garden pathways, including a golf course pond, all add a magical touch to the wedding film. Clients & Videographers: Keep in mind these areas are accessible via golf carts that the venue provides upon request, where more locations are available after the course has closed. If you want to take pictures out or near the course with your bridal party or for portraits, make sure you buffer in additional travel time to and from the locations. The ceremony space can be perfect for photos prior to the ceremony of the weather is overcast (left). There are also plenty of stunning outdoor picture and video opportunities on and around the course (middle & right). Architectural Elements: The Black Raven Banquet Room's design includes elegant fixtures and a spacious patio area with cozy fire pits, providing additional spots for creative videography, especially during evening receptions. Audio Considerations Acoustic Environment: The indoor spaces, particularly the Black Raven Banquet Room, boast favorable acoustics that ensure clear audio capture for speeches and musical performances. The room's design minimizes echo, contributing to high-quality sound recording. Ambient Noise: While outdoor ceremonies offer beautiful visuals, it's important to consider potential ambient noises, such as wind, rain, or distant traffic. Utilizing high-quality microphones with deadcats (yes, they're actually called deadcats) and/or windshields can effectively mitigate these challenges, ensuring crisp and clear audio. Staff and Coordination The team at Ravenwood Golf Club, including Event Sales Manager Cailyn Calcagno and Wedding & Event Coordinators Bridgette Yeaple and Katie Love , demonstrate exceptional professionalism and dedication. See? Couch on golf course greenery. All thanks to Bridgette! You think of it, she can make it happen. Do you see those beautiful clouds?! Wedding was mid November. Although I have only ever worked with Bridgette, she has an insane attention for detail and is a warm and lovely presence. With some venues it's a toss up as to whether you'll see the wedding coordinator, but not with Bridgette. She's very hands on and is always looking to include all vendors in timeline updates/changes, and is available throughout your wedding day. She willl even make it possible to transport a whole vintage couch out onto the golf course landscape if that's on your wishlist! Her proactive approach and attention to detail significantly contribute to a smooth videography experience. Collaborating closely with the staff ensures that all aspects of the event are well-coordinated, allowing for seamless capturing of key moments. Client Testimonials Couples (and other wedding vendors included!) consistently praise Ravenwood Golf Club for its outstanding service and beautiful setting. Reviews highlight the exceptional quality of the food, the attentiveness of the staff, and the overall ambiance of the venue. One reviewer noted , "Decorated beautifully, food was superb and the service top notch." I haven't had a bad meal from Ravenwood yet. Final Thoughts Ravenwood Golf Club stands out as a premier wedding venue that offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty and elegant facilities. For videographers, the diverse settings and supportive staff create an environment conducive to producing captivating wedding films. Couples seeking a venue that enhances both the visual and emotional narratives of their special day will find Ravenwood to be a top notch choice. Recommendations for Videographers & Clients Site Visit Videographer: It's advisable to conduct a thorough site visit prior to the event to identify optimal shooting locations and assess lighting conditions at different times of the day. Or buffer in considerable time before your start time to explore the venue and grounds. At a minimum, reach out to the photographer you're working with and confirm they've shot at Ravenwood before and know the grounds well. And for goodness sakes if you know it's going to be sunny, bring an ND or VND filter! Client: If you're planning on having photos and videos taken out on the grounds or golf course, it's encouraged to explore and choose during the day times in which you'd like to do so. Look for areas not in direct sunlight and shaded. Or, make sure your photographer or videographer are very familiar with all the locations of the grounds, and have a discussion prior to day of. This will allow you to give the Ravenwood staff advanced notice and permission to enter the grounds or golf course during certain times, to have golf carts available, and to give you the most amount of time to take gorgeous footage. Equipment Preparation Videographer: Given the expansive outdoor areas, having portable and versatile equipment, including stabilizers and wireless audio systems, will facilitate smooth transitions between indoor and outdoor filming. Find your camera adjustments for lighting prior to the ceremony for looking into the pavilion and looking out onto the ceremony, as they will be very different. Client: when vetting your wedding videographer and wedding photographer, make sure they have equipment that is capable of handling inclement weather (hood caps and water tight camera & lens bodies). Also confirm with the videographer they have deadcats or ways of filtering out wind or rain if audio is going to be recorded outdoors. Make sure you discuss with them their experience in shooting in multiple lighting situations, along with their process for getting the best footage possible when a subject is backlit. Collaboration with Staff Videographer: Engaging in open communication with the venue's coordinators will ensure that all logistical aspects are aligned, allowing for a seamless videography experience that captures the essence of the couple's special day. Client: Ask for Bridgette to be your wedding coordinator. She's hands down one of the best wedding coordinators in the Rochester wedding venue industry. You will be in the best hands possible. From the moment I arrived at Timberlodge at Arrowhead, it was clear: this wasn’t just a celebration of a couple, but a celebration of a community . Every detail — from the tearful toasts to the wild dance floor — echoed with a message that couldn’t be missed: these two are deeply, joyfully loved . And friends, let me tell you… it was a party for the books. A Setting That Felt Like a Storybook Nestled just outside Buffalo, Timberlodge at Arrowhead  is a place that wraps you up in warmth and natural charm. Picture this: beams of golden light streaming through rustic wood rafters, trees swaying just outside the windows, and the soft hum of laughter and clinking glasses echoing off stone fireplaces. It was the perfect blend of cozy and elegant — and completely transformed by the love in the room. The Morning: Candid and Full of Butterflies Anna got ready surrounded by her closest friends and family, sipping something bubbly and glowing in that pre-wedding kind of way — the kind of glow that only comes from knowing you’re about to marry your person. Her gown was timeless, modern, and totally her , with delicate detailing that fluttered like whispers with every step. Meanwhile, Noah was all nerves and smiles. You could see it in the way he adjusted his tie, and paced with anticipation. He didn’t say much, but you could feel  the love written all over his face. Their first look? Utterly magic. Tears. Laughter. A few whispered “I can’t believe this is happening” moments. The kind of moment you want to bottle up forever. Private Vows: Sacred Promises and Overflowing Hearts Set against the stunning outdoor backdrop of Timberlodge at a weeping willow, Anna & Noah exchanged vows that felt like poetry. A love that had clearly already stood the test of time. One of my favorite parts of the ceremony? The way Anna looked at Noah — with that soft, steady gaze like she was looking at home. Reception: Let the Celebration Begin! Okay, let’s talk about the vibes . From the second guests entered the warmly lit reception space, it was clear: this was going to be a night of serious celebration. Between romantic candlelit tables and bursts of color from the lush florals, the room buzzed with energy. Glasses clinked, desserts disappeared faster than I could blink (thank you, B Sweet Designs, for those insanely cute confections!), and laughter rolled like thunder. Toasts That Hit Straight to the Heart I’ve filmed a lot of toasts, but the ones at Anna & Noah’s wedding? Whew. Their best friends, siblings, and parents all spoke with that perfect mix of humor, tenderness, and depth. You could tell how much Anna and Noah mean to their people — not just as a couple, but as individuals who make every room warmer. A favorite moment? Anna’s maid of honor recounting how Anna once stayed on the phone for four hours during a tough night — and how that’s just who she is. Then Noah’s best man pulled out a memory from college that had everyone in stitches… and ended with, “Noah is the kind of guy who shows up. Always.” The room was quiet by the end, soaking in the beauty of a bond that had been lifted and shaped by so many hands. Dance Floor Fever Enter: Primo Lighting & Sound. The second those speakers kicked in, the party exploded . First dances melted hearts (Anna & Noah’s song choice was chef’s kiss  perfect), but it wasn’t long before the dance floor filled with aunts, uncles, best friends, and even Grandma in sneakers getting down  to some retro bops. There were line dances. There were sing-alongs. There was one epic moment  where the entire wedding party linked arms in a giant circle, jumping and shouting with pure, chaotic joy. These people? They showed up not just to witness a marriage — they came to celebrate it , and they left nothing behind. The Sweetest Ending As the night wound down and the last slow song played, Anna and Noah shared one more quiet moment under the lights. Friends swayed nearby. The firepit crackled just outside. And in that tiny in-between moment, surrounded by the people who raised them, cheered for them, and walked beside them, they simply exhaled  — together. That, to me, is what a wedding is all about. Final Thoughts from Behind the Lens There are weddings I film and weddings I feel  — and Anna & Noah’s was the kind that sticks to your ribs. From the hand-written vows to the all-night dance floor joy, their day was a masterclass in what it looks like to love your people well. I drove away that night with a full heart, the smell of bonfire still in my hair, and a quiet little grin that didn’t fade for days. Marissa kisses Brendan's cheek, both smiling at Pomona at Blue Barn A Love Written in the Stars: Marissa & Brendan’s Romantic Wedding at Pomona at Blue Barn The Beginning of a Beautiful Chapter There’s something unspeakably magical about the first look. That quiet moment where time slows, hearts race, and two people stand on the cusp of forever. When I arrived at Pomona at Blue Barn to capture Marissa and Brendan’s wedding, I already had a sense that their day would be deeply personal, sweetly emotional, and wildly joyful. I wasn’t wrong. Bundled in love (and a touch of winter chill), their first look was as pure as it gets. Brendan’s face when he turned around — oh, it was everything. The joy, the awe, the disbelief that this radiant woman was about to be his wife. Marissa beamed in return, laughing through the cold and soaking up the moment, already wrapped in that beautiful warmth the two of them radiate when they're together. “I can’t get over this,” she giggled through a shy smile. Same, Marissa. Same. Marissa & Brendan at Pomona at Blue Barn A Ceremony Steeped in Heart and History The ceremony was nestled inside the rustic elegance of Pomona at Blue Barn , a venue that wraps you in exposed wood beams, twinkling fairy lights, and the cozy embrace of timeless love. But it was the people — and the words  — that gave the space its soul. Brendan’s sister Adrienne officiated, lending such a personal touch. Her voice cracked with emotion as she chronicled Marissa and Brendan’s journey: six years of love, three degrees, 700-mile commutes, and a studio apartment so tiny it became a legend in its own right. And somehow, despite the distance and challenges, their bond only grew stronger. There was laughter (thanks, turtle Doris), there were tears, and there was a whole lot of celebration for two people who love fiercely and live with intention. Vows That Stole the Show Marissa’s vows left not a dry eye in the house. She spoke of Brendan as her anchor, her laughter, her other half. “No one else makes me feel so loved,” she said, voice trembling. An Atmosphere of Love (and Dancing Lights) Though we don’t have the transcript of the reception, I can tell you this: the joy was palpable. Pomona at Blue Barn truly transforms as night falls. The fairy lights glow a little brighter, the barn hums with laughter and clinking glasses, and the dance floor becomes a stage for the kind of celebration that only happens once in a lifetime. I caught glimpses of champagne toasts, impromptu dance-offs, and tender embraces from family members who clearly adore Marissa and Brendan. Their tribe showed up — not just physically, but emotionally. Everyone felt it: these two weren’t just in love; they were meant to be . Little Details That Spoke Volumes As a filmmaker, it’s often the small things that stick with me the most. A few that I’ll never forget: The shared glance  between Brendan and Marissa before they walked back down the aisle, married and glowing. The way Brendan whispered "you look amazing"  during their first look — not just once, but over and over like he couldn’t believe his luck. The laughter , loud and unfiltered, when someone’s speech lovingly called out the turtle and cat as “family of four.” The tear that rolled down Marissa’s cheek  during Brendan’s vows — and how he wiped it away without hesitation.
