  • Wedding Videography Cost: What You Need to Know Before Booking

A real-talk guide to understanding wedding video prices, packages & what’s really worth your budget. 📸 From Your Videographer: Let's Talk Numbers and Memories Hey there, lovebirds! I’m a wedding videographer who’s filmed everything from grand ballroom weddings to backyard elopements. If you’re anything like most couples I work with, you're asking the same honest questions: How much does a wedding videographer cost? What do wedding videography packages actually include? Is it really worth it? Whether you're in full budget-planning mode or still unsure if video is right for you, I'm here to make this process clear and confidence-boosting. 🎥 So... What Is the Average Cost of a Wedding Videographer? Let’s start with the big one: The average cost of a wedding videographer in the U.S. is about $2,300 , according to the 2025 Real Weddings Study by The Knot . That said, wedding videographer prices can range anywhere from $1,000 to $6,000+  depending on factors like experience, location, hours of coverage, editing complexity, and package add-ons. 📌 Hard Facts: This number reflects more than just a warm body with a camera — you're investing in storytelling, sound design, editing, backup equipment, and experience managing live events with precision. 💡 Why Does Wedding Video Cost What It Does? When comparing wedding video prices , here’s what’s typically included: Included Service Description 📷 Full Day Coverage Most packages include 6–10 hours of coverage. 🎬 Edited Highlight Film Usually 5–10 minutes, cinematic and stylized. 📼 Ceremony Edit A real-time, multi-camera edit of the ceremony. 💻 Post-Production Editing This takes 30–60+ hours and includes color correction, sound mixing, music. 📁 Raw Footage Some videographers include or sell unedited clips. 📲 Social Media Clips 30–60 second reels or trailers for sharing. 💍 Add-ons Engagement shoots, rehearsal dinner coverage, drone footage, or extra edits. As seen on Shutter & Sound , common add-on charges include: $795 for a 15–20 minute feature film $150–$395 for Instagram edits $100–$300 for raw footage These extras affect your total wedding videographer cost, so ask what’s bundled and what’s not. 💸 Breaking Down Wedding Videographer Packages Wedding videography packages vary widely, but here’s a general tier breakdown to help you compare: Package Level Price Range What’s Included 💡 Basic $1,000–$1,800 4–6 hours coverage, 3–5 min highlight, limited editing 🌟 Standard $2,000–$3,500 8–10 hours, highlight film, ceremony edit, 1 videographer, optional raw footage 🎬 Premium $3,500–$6,000+ Full day + rehearsal, drone footage, second shooter, teaser film, documentary edit ✨ Pro Tip:  Some videographers also offer photo + video bundle packages  — which can help lower the average cost of videographer wedding services  if you're booking both together. 📍 Regional Wedding Video Pricing Prices vary depending on where you’re getting married. For example: Buffalo, NY wedding video cost:  $1,800–$3,200 NYC/LA wedding videographer cost:  $3,500–$6,000+ Midwest wedding video charges:  Often closer to $1,500–$2,500 If you're searching for “average videographer cost for wedding near me,”  use sites like WeddingWire or The Knot’s budget planner to estimate local pricing. 🤔 Why Does Video Cost More Than It Looks? Couples often underestimate the hours that go into video production. Unlike photography, video involves: Syncing multiple audio sources (officiant mic, vows, music) Stabilized footage across several angles Storytelling through editing Licensing music legally Exporting multiple formats for delivery It’s not just filming your day — it’s crafting an emotional retelling of it that feels cinematic and timeless. ❗ Real Talk: What You Might Regret NOT Spending On According to The Knot's 2025 study, 19% of couples said they regretted not hiring a videographer.  Why? Because you can’t hear your vows or toasts in a photo. You can’t relive the movement of your first dance or your grandparents laughing in the crowd. Even if you're planning a modest celebration, your wedding video becomes the one thing (besides your marriage!) that truly lasts. 🧾 Quick FAQ Section 📹 What’s the average price for a wedding videographer? The average wedding videographer cost in the U.S. is $2,300 in 2025. 💰 What affects wedding video cost? Coverage hours, editing style, location, and package add-ons all influence wedding video charges. 🎥 Is a wedding videographer worth it? Absolutely. 1 in 5 couples regret skipping it, especially when they realize photos don’t capture vows, speeches, or motion. 🔍 How can I save on wedding videographer prices? Book early, bundle with photography, or consider partial-day packages. 📦 What’s Not  Usually Included in Wedding Videography Packages? Travel fees (if your videographer is out-of-town) Expedited edits (delivery under 30 days) Raw footage (some charge extra!) Second shooter (typically in premium packages) Always ask for a clear contract and itemized list of what’s included — transparency is key when understanding your total wedding video cost. 🎬 Final Thoughts from Behind the Lens As a wedding videographer, I’ll leave you with this: no two weddings are alike — and your video shouldn't be either. When you’re budgeting for your big day, don’t treat video as an “extra.” It’s your living memory, your day in motion, and your chance to relive that once-in-a-lifetime feeling over and over again. And remember — this isn’t about finding the cheapest price. It’s about finding the right person to tell your love story the way it deserves to be told. 📝 TL;DR: What to Know About Wedding Videographer Cost Average cost of videographer wedding:  $2,300 Price range:  $1,000–$6,000+ Worth it? Yes — 19% of couples regret skipping it Watch out for:  Hidden fees, lack of editing clarity Book early, bundle wisely, and budget smart Other Blog Similar Blog Posts: Why You Should Book a Videographer Wedding Videographer versus Content Creator Questions to Ask Your Wedding Videographer Wedding Videographer: Is It Worth It? • A Wedding at The Highline in Rochester, NY

Angela & Gabe’s Romantic Highline Wedding | A Celebration of Love, Laughter & Lifelong Partnership Whispers of Forever at The Highline As a wedding videographer, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness many love stories bloom into beautiful new beginnings — but Angela and Gabe’s wedding at The Highline in Rochester, NY was truly something out of a storybook. Their day was a cinematic dream: tender vows, joyful tears, and a palpable sense of belonging that wrapped every guest in the warmth of their love. There was an undeniable magic in the air — and not just because of the twinkle lights and champagne. Nestled amidst downtown Rochester, The Highline was the perfect canvas for Angela and Gabe’s wedding masterpiece. Think industrial elegance meets whimsical charm — exposed brick walls adorned with soft florals, sweeping drapery, and sunlit windows framing every heartfelt moment. If I could bottle the atmosphere and keep it forever, I would. From Couch to “I Do” Their story began on a friend’s couch — yes, an ordinary moment that turned extraordinary. Who would have guessed that a quiet seat at a party would one day lead to this? During the ceremony, Gabe recalled that very first moment — a quiet, humble beginning that grew into a love so powerful, it left everyone in tears. Angela’s vows were full of depth and grace. She spoke of how Gabe complements her “organized chaos” with ease, how his calm presence steadies her whirlwind, and how his love, evident in every daily gesture, gives her peace and purpose. Her voice cracked with emotion as she promised to choose him again and again — in every challenge, in every triumph, in every kitchen dance. Gabe, ever the romantic, shared that with Angela, there was never really a choice — loving her was as natural as breathing. He praised her impeccable taste (which, let’s be real, was on full display  from her gown to the floral palette) and vowed to support her dreams, embrace her quirks, and forever call her “wife” with joy and pride. Laughter, Legacy, and Colorful Joy One of my favorite moments was hearing Angela’s request that everyone come dressed in bold colors — “I’m always in color,” she joked, “and I’m stuck in white today, so I need you to help!” The guests did not disappoint. The entire celebration felt like a vibrant painting: hues of fuchsia, emerald, saffron, and indigo shimmered against the evening light. Family was the heartbeat of this wedding. Angela’s twin sister gave a speech that had every guest wiping their eyes and holding their chest. She spoke of what it means to be connected at the soul , and how Gabe had become an irreplaceable part of their shared journey. Angela’s father shared a particularly touching memory of meeting Gabe for the first time. He didn’t need the classic overprotective “dad talk.” One look into Gabe’s eyes — honest, sincere, and full of love — and he knew. Gabe was the one . There were also shout-outs to Gabe’s loyal friendships, Angela’s meticulous planning, and a wildly entertaining moment when the couple was gifted WWE-style championship belts by friends proclaiming them the “tag team champions of love.” It was quirky, it was heartfelt, and it was perfectly them . The Ceremony That Became a Community Weddings often bring people together, but Angela and Gabe’s union transformed  the room into a living, breathing community. There was such a deep sense of shared joy — you could feel it in the way guests cheered during the vows, in the bear hugs exchanged at the reception, and in the laughter that erupted during every toast. They celebrated not just their own love, but the legacy of love passed down from those before them — particularly honoring Angela’s grandmother, Grammy Mary, who turned 93  that day. The crowd sang to her in unison, making it clear that this was more than just a wedding. It was a celebration of life, of family, and of every thread that wove Angela and Gabe together. A Venue Made for Magic: Why The Highline Stands Out As someone who’s filmed countless weddings, I can say with certainty that The Highline is a venue that radiates style and comfort all at once. With its sleek architectural lines, ambient lighting, and incredible acoustics, in both the North and South Ballrooms, it created the perfect environment for every laugh, every dance move, and every heartfelt speech to echo with emotion, along with flows and transitions from the ceremony to cocktail hour. Whether you're a couple envisioning an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, The Highline adapts like a dream. Angela and Gabe transformed the space with hanging greenery, gold accents, and candlelight — giving it the feeling of a modern-day fairytale. And let me tell you, when they had their first dance under the stars just outside the reception space, it was as though time stopped. Final Thoughts: A Love That Moves You Angela and Gabe — your wedding was not just a day, but a feeling. A dreamy, joy-drenched whirlwind full of honest emotion, pure-hearted celebration, and unwavering love. Watching you both vow forever to each other made me remember why I do what I do. It was romantic, yes, but also grounded — real, layered, and rich with the kind of soul-deep partnership that makes love stories worth telling. From the very first couch to the final dance of the night, thank you for letting me — and all of us — witness your magic. Vendor Credits — Make the Magic Happen Weddings cannot happen without an amazing group of talented vendors. Cheers to your help, support, coordination, and impeccable success of Angela and Gabe's wedding day. 📍 Venue: The Highline Socials: Instagram Facebook 🎥 Videography: Candidly Kierra Productions Socials: Instagram Facebook 📸 Photography: Rich P Photo Socials: Instagram Facebook 🎶 DJ: Marquee Events ( Rick Parisi ) Socials: Instagram Facebook __________________________________________________________________________________ If you enjoyed the videos above, make sure to check out more of my work in my blog  or wedding portfolio . • Ravenwood Golf Club Weddings in Rochester - Venue Vendor Review

Look at that greenery in the background of Ravenwood Golf Club during the beginning of May! Come on!! General Information about Ravenwood Golf Club Weddings in this Venue Vendor Review Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to film wedding videos at Ravenwood Golf Club . As a wedding videographer, I had the pleasure of capturing a celebration at this venue and was impressed by its picturesque landscapes and attentive staff. It's even featured on another blog post for Rochester's top venues ! Ravenwood Golf Club offers an elegant setting for weddings, combining personalized service with exceptional value. If you haven't already, check out the blog post about Lexie and Andrew's wedding here , which took place at Ravenwood Golf Club! Ravenwood Golf Club, located in Victor, New York, is on the south east outskirts of the metropolitan area of Rochester, New York. With a quaint downtown full of locally run shops and restaurants, there is exploring to be done in the area. Located just outside of The Fingerlakes Wine country, nearby wineries include 20 Deep Winery and Song Hill Winery , and Casa Larga Vineyards (also a wedding venue!). and local beweriess, such as No BS Brew Company and Stumbling Monkey Brewing Company there is much to see and do! Venue Details Situated at 929 Lynaugh Road, Ravenwood Golf Club is easily accessible and provides ample complimentary parking for guests. The venue features meticulously maintained grounds, including a championship golf course and beautifully landscaped gardens, offering a variety of scenic backdrops ideal, for videography. The lush greenery, and vibrant flora enhance the visual storytelling of any wedding film. With the clubhouse perched on the hill overlooking the golf course, this wedding venue is no stranger to stunning wide shot sunset opportunities. Getting Ready Spaces Bridal Suite A newly revonated bridal suite was recently finished for the 2024 wedding season can hold up to 8 individuals comfortably. This is a perfect area to have hair and makeup done in privacy, located right off the also newly renovated bar area. The previous area that was the bridal suite can be utilized as a landing pad for the bride, groom, and wedding party. Ceremony Spaces The absolutely gorgeous backdrop of gardens for the outdoor ceremony space at Ravenwood. Note with this unedited still shot, how the couple, officiant, and bridal party had to strategically stand in the shade closer to the wedding guests, even with the officiant falling victim to some harsh lighting on his face. Outdoor Ceremony Option The expansive 2,700 sq. ft. garden area which features a hybrid indoor seating in the pavilion and a slightly elevated outdoor ceremony space adjacent to the Black Raven Banquet Room serves as a popular choice for majority of ceremonies held at the venue. With its manicured lawns and colorful flower beds, this space provides a romantic and serene environment, often including an arbor to compliment the backdrop. A ceremony held too early in the day will have direct sunlight cast on the ceremony scene, causing harsh shadows and squinting eyes, as there are not trees tall enough to cast blanketing shadows. However, the natural lighting during late afternoon ceremonies is particularly favorable, casting a warm, golden hue that enhances the cinematic quality of the footage. Utilizing this space earlier in the day for other photos such as a first look or bridal party can be easily accomplished as long as it is partially cloudy or overcast. Note with all of the images, both edited and unedited, to show you difference in what types of lighting you may have in the indoor seating verses outdoor ceremony area, depending on the time of year, time of ceremony, and overall weather. Although challenging to switch in between the drastically different lighting scenes of the vantage point from the ceremony looking inwards to watch the bride walk down the aisle, to turning around and looking out onto the ceremony scene, this task is well worth it and doable for a skilled videographer. During cocktail hour, the chairs are efficiently removed from the space by the attentive staff to reveal a large dance floor and mingling area, with a bar located on the far right wall. First dance time! Reception Spaces The Black Raven Banquet Room This spacious 3,000 sq. ft. room accommodates up to 250 guests and offers breathtaking views of the golf course through expansive floor to ceiling windows. The room's neutral color palette and elegant decor provide a versatile canvas for various wedding themes, featuring large circular tables for your guests to sit at. Enormous sliding glass doors open directly to the garden and a 2,700 sq. ft. covered pavilion, allowing for seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, and making the different spaces flow into one. From a videography perspective, the ample natural light and open layout facilitate dynamic and unobtrusive filming. Since toasts and speeches are often in the latter half of the wedding day, keep in mind that the backdrop to where the sweethearts table is located is typically in front of the large windows facing into the banquet room, which are west-facing. This can cause the person giving the speech, along with the bride and groom, to become backlit if done before sunset. Here are two of the solutions: know how to shoot backlit (left image) or have your speeches after sunset (left image). Therefore you have four options: (1) it is key for your videographer to have the expertise to properly expose their subjects in backlighting scenarios. Or (2) you can simply have your speeches and toasts occur after sunset (which is easier accomplished the further you get into the fall season), or (3) choose another exterior wall to place the sweetheart table, or (4) choose a different location for the bride, groom, and speech giver to be during this portion of the reception. The Birdseye Room This slightly smaller space at 800 sq. ft. with large windows as a backdrop is fantastic to consider for 45 guests or smaller weddings, and can even be considered for a bridal shower, rehearsal dinners, or the post wedding day brunch. There's even a quaint gazebo to incorporate into some shots as well! This is a beginning of May wedding at Ravenwood golf club. Notable Features for Videography Again with the stunning Ravenwood Golf Club greens in Rochester, NY. This is a beginning of August wedding. Scenic Backdrops: The venue's golf course and landscaped gardens offer numerous picturesque settings for capturing intimate moments and stunning visuals. Sunset shots on top of the rolling greens or near the charming garden pathways, including a golf course pond, all add a magical touch to the wedding film. Clients & Videographers: Keep in mind these areas are accessible via golf carts that the venue provides upon request, where more locations are available after the course has closed. If you want to take pictures out or near the course with your bridal party or for portraits, make sure you buffer in additional travel time to and from the locations. The ceremony space can be perfect for photos prior to the ceremony of the weather is overcast (left). There are also plenty of stunning outdoor picture and video opportunities on and around the course (middle & right). Architectural Elements: The Black Raven Banquet Room's design includes elegant fixtures and a spacious patio area with cozy fire pits, providing additional spots for creative videography, especially during evening receptions. Audio Considerations Acoustic Environment: The indoor spaces, particularly the Black Raven Banquet Room, boast favorable acoustics that ensure clear audio capture for speeches and musical performances. The room's design minimizes echo, contributing to high-quality sound recording. Ambient Noise: While outdoor ceremonies offer beautiful visuals, it's important to consider potential ambient noises, such as wind, rain, or distant traffic. Utilizing high-quality microphones with deadcats (yes, they're actually called deadcats) and/or windshields can effectively mitigate these challenges, ensuring crisp and clear audio. Staff and Coordination The team at Ravenwood Golf Club, including Event Sales Manager Cailyn Calcagno and Wedding & Event Coordinators Bridgette Yeaple and Katie Love , demonstrate exceptional professionalism and dedication. See? Couch on golf course greenery. All thanks to Bridgette! You think of it, she can make it happen. Do you see those beautiful clouds?! Wedding was mid November. Although I have only ever worked with Bridgette, she has an insane attention for detail and is a warm and lovely presence. With some venues it's a toss up as to whether you'll see the wedding coordinator, but not with Bridgette. She's very hands on and is always looking to include all vendors in timeline updates/changes, and is available throughout your wedding day. She willl even make it possible to transport a whole vintage couch out onto the golf course landscape if that's on your wishlist! Her proactive approach and attention to detail significantly contribute to a smooth videography experience. Collaborating closely with the staff ensures that all aspects of the event are well-coordinated, allowing for seamless capturing of key moments. Client Testimonials Couples (and other wedding vendors included!) consistently praise Ravenwood Golf Club for its outstanding service and beautiful setting. Reviews highlight the exceptional quality of the food, the attentiveness of the staff, and the overall ambiance of the venue. One reviewer noted , "Decorated beautifully, food was superb and the service top notch." I haven't had a bad meal from Ravenwood yet. Final Thoughts Ravenwood Golf Club stands out as a premier wedding venue that offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty and elegant facilities. For videographers, the diverse settings and supportive staff create an environment conducive to producing captivating wedding films. Couples seeking a venue that enhances both the visual and emotional narratives of their special day will find Ravenwood to be a top notch choice. You can see examples of videos I've produced for a beginning of May , beginning of August , and mid November weddings . Recommendations for Videographers & Clients Site Visit Videographer: It's advisable to conduct a thorough site visit prior to the event to identify optimal shooting locations and assess lighting conditions at different times of the day. Or buffer in considerable time before your start time to explore the venue and grounds. At a minimum, reach out to the photographer you're working with and confirm they've shot at Ravenwood before and know the grounds well. And for goodness sakes if you know it's going to be sunny, bring an ND or VND filter! Client: If you're planning on having photos and videos taken out on the grounds or golf course, it's encouraged to explore and choose during the day times in which you'd like to do so. Look for areas not in direct sunlight and shaded. Or, make sure your photographer or videographer are very familiar with all the locations of the grounds, and have a discussion prior to day of. This will allow you to give the Ravenwood staff advanced notice and permission to enter the grounds or golf course during certain times, to have golf carts available, and to give you the most amount of time to take gorgeous footage. Equipment Preparation Videographer: Given the expansive outdoor areas, having portable and versatile equipment, including stabilizers and wireless audio systems, will facilitate smooth transitions between indoor and outdoor filming. Find your camera adjustments for lighting prior to the ceremony for looking into the pavilion and looking out onto the ceremony, as they will be very different. Client: when vetting your wedding videographer and wedding photographer, make sure they have equipment that is capable of handling inclement weather (hood caps and water tight camera & lens bodies). Also confirm with the videographer they have deadcats or ways of filtering out wind or rain if audio is going to be recorded outdoors. Make sure you discuss with them their experience in shooting in multiple lighting situations, along with their process for getting the best footage possible when a subject is backlit. Collaboration with Staff Videographer: Engaging in open communication with the venue's coordinators will ensure that all logistical aspects are aligned, allowing for a seamless videography experience that captures the essence of the couple's special day. Client: Ask for Bridgette to be your wedding coordinator. She's hands down one of the best wedding coordinators in the Rochester wedding venue industry. You will be in the best hands possible. I'd get married at Ravenwood just because of her. • A Wedding at Timberlodge at Arrowhead in Akron, NY

Anna & Noah: A Joy-Filled Wedding at Timberlodge at Arrowhead A heartfelt celebration of love, laughter, and lifelong friendship in Buffalo, NY "When death takes me by the hand, I will hold you in the other, and find you in every lifetime". - Rupi Kaur When Love Feels Like Home There’s a certain kind of magic that fills the air on a wedding day, and Anna & Noah’s was the kind that lingers — in laughter, in music, in the way loved ones wrapped their arms around each other just a little tighter. From the moment I arrived at Timberlodge at Arrowhead, it was clear: this wasn’t just a celebration of a couple, but a celebration of a community . Every detail — from the tearful toasts to the wild dance floor — echoed with a message that couldn’t be missed: these two are deeply, joyfully loved . And friends, let me tell you… it was a party for the books. A Setting That Felt Like a Storybook Nestled just outside Buffalo, Timberlodge at Arrowhead  is a place that wraps you up in warmth and natural charm. Picture this: beams of golden light streaming through rustic wood rafters, trees swaying just outside the windows, and the soft hum of laughter and clinking glasses echoing off stone fireplaces. It was the perfect blend of cozy and elegant — and completely transformed by the love in the room. The Morning: Candid and Full of Butterflies Anna got ready surrounded by her closest friends and family, sipping something bubbly and glowing in that pre-wedding kind of way — the kind of glow that only comes from knowing you’re about to marry your person. Her gown was timeless, modern, and totally her , with delicate detailing that fluttered like whispers with every step. Meanwhile, Noah was all nerves and smiles. You could see it in the way he adjusted his tie, and paced with anticipation. He didn’t say much, but you could feel  the love written all over his face. Their first look? Utterly magic. Tears. Laughter. A few whispered “I can’t believe this is happening” moments. The kind of moment you want to bottle up forever. Private Vows: Sacred Promises and Overflowing Hearts Set against the stunning outdoor backdrop of Timberlodge at a weeping willow, Anna & Noah exchanged vows that felt like poetry. A love that had clearly already stood the test of time. One of my favorite parts of the ceremony? The way Anna looked at Noah — with that soft, steady gaze like she was looking at home. Reception: Let the Celebration Begin! Okay, let’s talk about the vibes . From the second guests entered the warmly lit reception space, it was clear: this was going to be a night of serious celebration. Between romantic candlelit tables and bursts of color from the lush florals, the room buzzed with energy. Glasses clinked, desserts disappeared faster than I could blink (thank you, B Sweet Designs, for those insanely cute confections!), and laughter rolled like thunder. Toasts That Hit Straight to the Heart I’ve filmed a lot of toasts, but the ones at Anna & Noah’s wedding? Whew. Their best friends, siblings, and parents all spoke with that perfect mix of humor, tenderness, and depth. You could tell how much Anna and Noah mean to their people — not just as a couple, but as individuals who make every room warmer. A favorite moment? Anna’s maid of honor recounting how Anna once stayed on the phone for four hours during a tough night — and how that’s just who she is. Then Noah’s best man pulled out a memory from college that had everyone in stitches… and ended with, “Noah is the kind of guy who shows up. Always.” The room was quiet by the end, soaking in the beauty of a bond that had been lifted and shaped by so many hands. Dance Floor Fever Enter: Primo Lighting & Sound. The second those speakers kicked in, the party exploded . First dances melted hearts (Anna & Noah’s song choice was chef’s kiss  perfect), but it wasn’t long before the dance floor filled with aunts, uncles, best friends, and even Grandma in sneakers getting down  to some retro bops. There were line dances. There were sing-alongs. There was one epic moment  where the entire wedding party linked arms in a giant circle, jumping and shouting with pure, chaotic joy. These people? They showed up not just to witness a marriage — they came to celebrate it , and they left nothing behind. The Sweetest Ending As the night wound down and the last slow song played, Anna and Noah shared one more quiet moment under the lights. Friends swayed nearby. The firepit crackled just outside. And in that tiny in-between moment, surrounded by the people who raised them, cheered for them, and walked beside them, they simply exhaled  — together. That, to me, is what a wedding is all about. Final Thoughts from Behind the Lens There are weddings I film and weddings I feel  — and Anna & Noah’s was the kind that sticks to your ribs. From the hand-written vows to the all-night dance floor joy, their day was a masterclass in what it looks like to love your people well. I drove away that night with a full heart, the smell of bonfire still in my hair, and a quiet little grin that didn’t fade for days. Anna & Noah, thank you for letting me witness the start of your forever. Your love is full of light and laughter and so much heart . I’m forever grateful to have captured it. – Kierra Selected Vendors Every moment of Anna & Noah’s day was elevated by a team of talented vendors who brought their creative magic to life. • A Wedding at Pomona at Blue Barn in Rochester, NY

Marissa kisses Brendan's cheek, both smiling at Pomona at Blue Barn A Love Written in the Stars: Marissa & Brendan’s Romantic Wedding at Pomona at Blue Barn The Beginning of a Beautiful Chapter There’s something unspeakably magical about the first look. That quiet moment where time slows, hearts race, and two people stand on the cusp of forever. When I arrived at Pomona at Blue Barn to capture Marissa and Brendan’s wedding, I already had a sense that their day would be deeply personal, sweetly emotional, and wildly joyful. I wasn’t wrong. Bundled in love (and a touch of winter chill), their first look was as pure as it gets. Brendan’s face when he turned around — oh, it was everything. The joy, the awe, the disbelief that this radiant woman was about to be his wife. Marissa beamed in return, laughing through the cold and soaking up the moment, already wrapped in that beautiful warmth the two of them radiate when they're together. “I can’t get over this,” she giggled through a shy smile. Same, Marissa. Same. Marissa & Brendan at Pomona at Blue Barn A Ceremony Steeped in Heart and History The ceremony was nestled inside the rustic elegance of Pomona at Blue Barn , a venue that wraps you in exposed wood beams, twinkling fairy lights, and the cozy embrace of timeless love. But it was the people — and the words  — that gave the space its soul. Brendan’s sister Adrienne officiated, lending such a personal touch. Her voice cracked with emotion as she chronicled Marissa and Brendan’s journey: six years of love, three degrees, 700-mile commutes, and a studio apartment so tiny it became a legend in its own right. And somehow, despite the distance and challenges, their bond only grew stronger. There was laughter (thanks, turtle Doris), there were tears, and there was a whole lot of celebration for two people who love fiercely and live with intention. Vows That Stole the Show Marissa’s vows left not a dry eye in the house. She spoke of Brendan as her anchor, her laughter, her other half. “No one else makes me feel so loved,” she said, voice trembling. Then Brendan stepped up, sweet and sure, speaking of the way Marissa views the world — with childlike wonder and a heart as big as the ocean they both love. “Much of me can’t even remember life before you,” he said. And if you were in the room, you felt  the truth in those words. Also, shout-out to Brendan for promising to try to close the kitchen cabinets from now on. We love a practical vow! An Atmosphere of Love (and Dancing Lights) Though we don’t have the transcript of the reception, I can tell you this: the joy was palpable. Pomona at Blue Barn truly transforms as night falls. The fairy lights glow a little brighter, the barn hums with laughter and clinking glasses, and the dance floor becomes a stage for the kind of celebration that only happens once in a lifetime. I caught glimpses of champagne toasts, impromptu dance-offs, and tender embraces from family members who clearly adore Marissa and Brendan. Their tribe showed up — not just physically, but emotionally. Everyone felt it: these two weren’t just in love; they were meant to be . Little Details That Spoke Volumes As a filmmaker, it’s often the small things that stick with me the most. A few that I’ll never forget: The shared glance  between Brendan and Marissa before they walked back down the aisle, married and glowing. The way Brendan whispered "you look amazing"  during their first look — not just once, but over and over like he couldn’t believe his luck. The laughter , loud and unfiltered, when someone’s speech lovingly called out the turtle and cat as “family of four.” The tear that rolled down Marissa’s cheek  during Brendan’s vows — and how he wiped it away without hesitation. It’s these flickers of real life and real love that make my job feel like storytelling magic. You've gotta let loose and have some fun on your wedding day! Brendan & Marissa understood the assignment. A Forever Kind of Love Marissa and Brendan’s wedding wasn’t just about vows or venues or florals (though let’s take a moment to appreciate those dreamy blush blooms). It was about the unwavering choice to keep showing up for one another, whether separated by hundreds of miles or standing hand in hand. It was about two people who find joy not only in traveling the world, but in sitting at home with a cat, a turtle, and each other. Who wake up early for Zoom pancake breakfasts. Who binge-watch Netflix in different states, yet somehow manage to feel closer than most. That’s what love is, isn’t it? It’s not always grand gestures or cinematic kisses (though theirs would fit perfectly in a film). It’s the everyday moments, stitched together by kindness, curiosity, and care. Closing Notes from Behind the Lens As I packed up my gear that night, heart full and hands a little sore from holding my camera through all the happy chaos, I found myself whispering a thank-you to the stars — the same stars that aligned years ago and brought Marissa and Brendan together. Filming this wedding was a joy, but more than that, it was a reminder of what really matters. Two people, deeply in love, supported by a village that cheers for them like it’s their own love story. And a future wide open with possibility. Marissa & Brendan — thank you for letting me witness your beginning. Your love is electric, earthy, and wildly inspiring. I can't wait to see where life takes you next. Until then, keep loving big. – Kierra Selected Vendors Marissa & Brendan’s day came to life thanks to a dream team of creatives. Each detail — from the florals to the cozy venue lighting — told a part of their love story. Here’s a look at the talented vendors who helped make it unforgettable: Venue Pomona at Blue Barn An enchanting, rustic-modern venue tucked away in Rochester, NY. • Wedding at Graceful Gatherings at LedgeRock in Buffalo, NY

Rachael (bride) and Shaun (groom) share a tender moment by a picturesque waterfall, surrounded by nature's beauty. A Love Story Written by Nature From the moment I arrived at Graceful Gatherings at LedgeRock, it was clear that nature wasn’t just a backdrop for Shaun and Rachael—it was a key character in their love story. Their deep admiration for waterfalls influenced every aspect of their wedding planning. The venue itself boasts a stunning waterfall that not only captures the eye but also seems to sing a song of timeless romance. It was here that the couple chose to share an intimate, private first look. Imagine standing before a cascade of water, surrounded by lush greenery, where the only sounds are nature’s gentle hum and the soft beat of your heart in anticipation. In that serene moment, as Shaun and Rachael locked eyes for the first time that day, the world seemed to pause. The gentle mist in the air, the symphony of water and wind, and their quiet smiles told a story of passion and promise—a story that I felt incredibly privileged to capture. The Heart of the Celebration: An Outdoor Chapel Steeped in Romance After their private moment by the falls, the couple moved to an equally enchanting setting: the outdoor chapel at Graceful Gatherings. Draped in delicate florals and bathed in the soft, golden light cascading through the stained glass windows, the chapel was the perfect stage for their official union as husband and wife. Their good mutual friend had the honor of being their wedding officiant, along with words of wisdom and a reading by more dear friends to balance the ceremony. With the shifting seasons and nature all around, the atmosphere was both intimate and profoundly moving. As Shaun and Rachael exchanged their heartfelt promises, I couldn’t help but feel the deep sincerity of their commitment. Each word spoken was a true reflection of their genuine, authentic personalities, and promises mirrored by the beauty of the natural surroundings. Celebrating Love: Dance, Laughter, and Sweet Indulgences No wedding of this caliber is complete without a celebration that perfectly captures the couple’s unique spirit. Post-ceremony, the energy shifted effortlessly from serene to exuberant. The reception was a vibrant tapestry of joy where every moment was a testament to the couple’s love for life and each other. No detail was left unturned. One of the highlights of the evening was when Rachael's sister shared an unplanned surprise of giving the bride her wedding present earlier than expected that day, and revealed the true intent in her speech: matching bracelets. And then there were the desserts—each sweet treat as delightful as the love story unfolding before our eyes. Every bite of the carefully curated desserts seemed to mirror the sweetness of Shaun and Rachael’s journey, adding yet another layer of celebration to the festivities. The laughter, the shared stories, and the spontaneous moments of delight all combined to create an atmosphere where time felt both fleeting and eternal. Candid Moments and Timeless Memories One of the things I cherish most about my work is the opportunity to capture candid moments—the spontaneous glances, the unplanned laughter, and the quiet whispers of affection that speak louder than any staged pose ever could. Shaun and Rachael’s wedding was a treasure trove of such moments. There were instances when a shared smile between the couple said more than words ever could, and times when the joyous energy of their guests illuminated the entire scene. I found myself constantly inspired by the genuine expressions of love and happiness that unfolded naturally throughout the day. Whether it was the subtle exchange of looks during the quiet moments at the waterfall or the exuberant bursts of joy on the dance floor, every moment was imbued with authenticity. At Candidly Kierra Productions, our goal is to capture these raw, unfiltered emotions—the ones that tell the true story of a couple’s journey together. And on this day, every photograph, every frame, was a testament to a love that is both timeless and profoundly personal. The Perfect Blend of Nature and Nuptials Graceful Gatherings at LedgeRock isn’t just a venue—it’s a place where nature and celebration come together in perfect harmony. The setting provided an almost cinematic quality to the day, where every element from the gentle murmur of the waterfall to the rustle of leaves in the breeze contributed to the overall ambiance. I was struck by how seamlessly the natural beauty of the venue enhanced the couple’s wedding. It wasn’t just about the grand gestures, but also the quiet details: the way the light filtered through the trees during the first look, or how the natural décor of the chapel complimented the soft, romantic tones of the day. This harmonious blend of the organic and the orchestrated is what makes weddings like these so memorable. The natural elements served as both a literal and metaphorical foundation for Shaun and Rachael’s new beginning. Their love, much like the waterfall itself, was powerful, graceful, and ever-flowing—reminding us all of the beauty in life’s natural rhythms. A Day to Remember, a Story to Cherish As the night drew to a close, and the final notes of music faded into the cool evening air, the magic of the day lingered in every heart present. Shaun and Rachael’s wedding was more than just a ceremony; it was a celebration of life, love, and the joy of coming together as a community. Surrounded by friends, family, and the enduring beauty of nature, the couple stepped into their new chapter with the kind of radiance that only true love can bring. Looking back on the day, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity to have been a part of such an intimate celebration. At Candidly Kierra Productions, we believe that every wedding is a unique story waiting to be told—a story that deserves to be captured in all its messy, beautiful detail. Shaun and Rachael’s wedding was a perfect example of this philosophy in action. It was a day that was carefully planned yet delightfully spontaneous, filled with both grand gestures and quiet moments of intimacy. Every laugh, every tear, every dance move was a piece of a larger narrative that will be cherished for generations to come. The Journey Ahead: Happily Ever After In the end, Shaun and Rachael’s wedding at Graceful Gatherings at Ledgerock was a day of contrasts—a gentle whisper of romance mingled with the exuberance of celebration. It was a day when nature’s splendor met human joy, when carefully planned details complemented spontaneous moments, and when a simple look by a waterfall evolved into a promise of forever. For me, the honor of capturing this beautiful confluence of moments reaffirms why I’m so passionate about what I do. Every couple has a unique story, and every wedding is an opportunity to tell that story in a way that’s as vivid and authentic as the love it celebrates. As you look back on your own cherished memories, I hope you’ll find a piece of magic in every video clip—a reminder that life’s most beautiful moments are the ones that come naturally, unfiltered and real. Shaun and Rachael’s day was a reminder that true love is not just seen, but felt; not just captured in photographs, but lived in every heartbeat, every whispered promise, and every joyful dance step. Here’s to the beginning of their happily ever after—a journey that, like a majestic waterfall, flows continuously, carrying with it the promise of new adventures, endless love, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime. Thank you, Shaun and Rachael, for letting us be a part of your fairytale. I am truly honored to have captured the magic of your day, and we can’t wait to see where your love story takes you next! • Why You Absolutely, 100%, Without a Doubt Need a Wedding Videographer

Your wedding day takes months  of painstakingly planning every detail; checklists upon checklists, endless Pinterest inspo boards, and one too many polite reach outs for those guest RVSPs. Just think about the level of emotional and financial investment you’ve already put into this day, and it will wiz by faster than you even thought possible. Your memory can only hold onto bits and pieces, even those fading with time. With the wedding industry shift of videography from a “nice-to-have” to a necessity, a wedding film is the closest way to step back into your wedding day and experience it all over again. Because Your Day Deserves a Replay Button The soft gasp when your person sees you for the first time. The way your dad tries to hold back his tears as he walks you down the aisle. These aren’t just moments —they’re emotions, and emotions deserve more than just a still frame. A wedding video isn’t just about remembering—it’s about reliving that feeling . Photos capture a fraction of a second; video lets you hear your partner’s shaky voice as they stumble through their repeat-after-me and the thunderous applause as you share your first kiss as a married couple. Wouldn’t it be incredible to have the opportunity to listen to the intimate moments when your partner first said their vows 10 or even 50 years from now? Why not create a tradition where you watch your film every anniversary? And girl math says, if you watch it at least once a year every year for the next 30 years, it’s pretty much free, right? The Things You’ll Miss, But Wish You Hadn’t No matter how hard you try to soak it all in and be present, inevitably there will be things you miss. You’ll be able to see your bridal party walk down the aisle before you, and their choreographed reception entrances to that one hit song. Your grandparents swaying together on the dance floor like they’re young again. A wedding videographer ensures that while you’re busy living each moment, the moment is also being preserved. A Cinematic Love Story—Starring You Anyone can pick up a smart phone and hit record. But a professional wedding videographer? They are expert storytellers—giving your story the justice it deserves. Your wedding video will be a beautifully curated film with an emotional build-up that leaves you in tears (the good kind) one minute and laughing so hard you cry the next. Think of it as your own personal romance movie—except this one isn’t scripted. It’s genuine. It’s real. It’s yours . An Heirloom That Lasts One day, when life has settled into its beautiful, everyday rhythm, and your wedding day feels like a dream from another lifetime, you’ll be able to press play and be transported right back. Your children and even grandchildren will be able to see  your love story unfold, hear the joy in your voices, and witness the magic they otherwise wouldn’t have known. A wedding film isn’t just for you —it’s a time capsule piece of where your legacy began.  So, Do You Need a Wedding Videographer? Let’s put it this way—can you imagine hearing your partner’s vows only once? Not being able to see your first dance where you fell in love all over again? Hiring a wedding videographer isn’t just about capturing a day—it’s about capturing a feeling , one that deserves to last beyond a lifetime. And trust me—future you will thank you.  Need a videographer? I’d love to talk to you about your vision - reach out at www.candidlykierraproductions.com  or follow me on Instagram @candidlykierraproductions Published in the Post Journal Wedding Planner 2025.

  • 5 Questions You Didn't Think to Ask Your Wedding Videographer (But Totally Should!)

Hey there, beautiful brides-to-be (and grooms, too)! Why Ask Your Wedding Videographer Questions? As a wedding videographer who’s been capturing love stories for years, I’ve seen it all. When couples reach out to me, they’re often focused on the basics: availability, package pricing, hours of coverage, and highlight reels. But there are some crucial questions that often get overlooked — questions that can make all the difference in your wedding film experience. So, let’s dive into the top five questions - in order of importance - you didn’t think to ask your wedding videographer (but totally should!). 1. What Types of Camera Gear Do You Use? The equipment your videographer uses can drastically impact the final look and feel of your wedding film from a movement perspective. The most common ones gear used are: gimbal , monopod , glidecam , or handheld with a smallrig cage . There are pros and cons to any of them, and should be considered when vetting your potential wedding videographer. The type of gear utilized with the camera will have drastic effects on the overall quality and style of your final video. Are they rocking a gimbal for those smooth cinematic shots? A monopod for steady ceremony and speeches footage? Or perhaps a handheld setup for a raw, documentary vibe? Ask upfront what type of equipment they use, as well as take a look at their final video products. My Personal Opinion: Gimbals Aren't For Me. As stated in the paragraph title above, this is literally just my opinion. It's not the end all be all, it's not law, it's not right, it's not wrong. For me, I can always tell when it's a gimbal because of what I call the "gimbal jerk", that is an unnatural movement that happens when it's a steady and smooth shot but then does a sudden correct. It drives me nuts. Some people don't notice and don't mind! I've also heard horror stories of gimbals overheating and malfunctioning on particularly hot or sunny days or if they are imbalanced. On top of that, if your videographer likes to utilize many different prime lenses, there is a lot more down time needed to switch out the lens and re-stabilize the camera. This may lead to some organic, special moments to be missed. Monopods have their place. If that's all your potential videographer utilizes, please proceed with caution. For me, in any situation that requires steady and static coverage, but still have the ability to pivot and move if necessary, I love my monopod. Videographers that are too attached to their monopods all day will likely lack any dynamic movement in their shot (i.e. the background is moving because the videographer is also moving). This can also be a big challenge when it comes to having the ability to react to your environment and ensuring the moment is caught. Oftentimes you will find guests, or even other seasoned vendors (yes, I am looking at you photographers) aren't paying attention to their surroundings and they step into your frame, losing coverage of those precious moments, and those clips hitting the cutting room floor. For majority of the day, I rock a SmallRig cage on my primary camera. This allows me to be able to provide dynamic movement shots and to be able to be truly run and gun - to control the things I can control, which is my angle on the shot I am trying to capture. It also allows me to utilize a 24-70 mm lens, where I can switch between focal lengths with ease and speed. For most gimbals and glidecams included, using a zoom lens at different enough focal lengths will oftentimes throw the balance off, leading most to use a primary lens. There is absolutely nothing wrong with primary lenses, but I personally find I am able to grab many more focal lengths (like tight and wide shots) and perspectives of a moment efficiently by combining the ability to zoom in and out, and not just limiting myself to the distance and angle of the lens in perspective of the desired frame. For the dancefloor, you will always find me rocking a prime lens thanks to their amazing performance in low light settings. Understanding the gear also gives you insight into how flexible your videographer is with different shooting environments. For instance, a videographer with a drone can capture breathtaking aerial shots of your venue, while a handheld camera can capture intimate, behind-the-scenes moments. Green Flags: They explain their gear and how it affects the footage. They use a mix of tools for versatility. They show examples of different styles they've achieved with various gear. Red Flags: They can’t articulate what equipment they use or why. They rely solely on handheld shots (which would be an Olympic feat of strength for a 30 minute ceremony). They refuse to adapt their gear for different events of the day. 2. How Many Weddings Do You Take On Each Year? This question is key to understanding how much attention and energy your videographer can dedicate to your big day. Some videographers prioritize quality over quantity, while others may pack their calendar to maximize income. My Personal Opinion: Don't Book Someone Who Does 16+ Weddings in the Busy Season Let's do some math: peak wedding season is typically from May - October (6 months, or half the year). This means if your potential wedding videographer books more than 18 weddings during busy season, they are averaging 3 weddings a month. Most months have 4 weekends, meaning they're working all but one weekend a month. That means every Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, they're filming a wedding. A wedding that has to be edited in post production. Which will more than likely take them longer than 4 working days during the week (some, depending on the type of package the client chose, take me more than twice that amount of time!). This leaves little to no room for error, sickness, life, or time off before the videographer quickly gets behind schedule. Leading to longer wait times and turnaround times for your videos that you are dying to see. This doesn't even begin to cover the topic of burnout either. Creative burnout is real, it exists, and happens to the best of us. In order to thrive creatively and give our best efforts to creating a beautiful cinematic masterpiece for you, there needs to be a max. Personally, I cap my peak wedding season at no more than 15 weddings (normally there are around 3-5 on the off season that I like to take to keep my skill set fresh). Knowing this about your potential wedding videographer helps you gauge how responsive they’ll be leading up to your wedding and how much time they’ll spend perfecting your final film. Green Flags: They shoot 15-18 weddings during peak wedding season — enough to stay sharp but not burnt out. They prioritize quality over quantity. They space out their schedule to allow ample time for editing (i.e. only take on a max of 3 weddings a month and don't do back-to-back weddings, aka: 'double-headers'). They offer personalized attention and communication throughout the whole pre- and post-wedding process. Red Flags: They’re booked every weekend with double- or triple-headers. They hesitate to give a number (which can signal overbooking or a lack of organization). They’re new and taking on too many gigs to “gain experience.” They rush through editing to meet contract deadlines, leaving mistakes or low quality final videos. 3. Do You Edit the Footage Yourself or Outsource It? Editing is where the magic happens — where your love story comes to life. So, knowing who’s behind that magic is crucial. My Personal Opinion: Outsourcing Is Wildly Impersonal Not to ruffle the feathers of anyone who does outsource their editing, but I don't think I'd ever have the heart to outsource any of my post production editing process. You wedding day is too personal, I am way to emotionally invested in the couple, and will always make sure the littlest moment, like your mother giving you your late grandmothers pearls as a 'something borrowed', which may not be so little to you, never goes unnoticed, and will always make it into your final videos. To me, outsourcing the editing suggests that every wedding video can follow a simple formula to produce the final result. To me, it screams impersonal. But again, this third question may be hand in hand with the second - if they're taking on too many weddings, are they aiming for quantity over quality, are they willing to put their profit ahead of your personalization? Of their answer is they outsource, they better have a very detailed reason why. Some wedding videographers love and thrive being able to film the day and strongly dislike the editing portion. And that's why you get only wedding video editors too! They love the editing part of the process but hate the shooting. Some videographers handle all editing in-house, while others outsource to third-party editors. While outsourcing isn’t inherently bad, it can greatly affect the consistency and emotional storytelling of your final film. Green Flags: They personally handle the editing or have an in-house team. Their editing style is consistent with what you’ve seen in their portfolio. They have a clear timeline for delivery. They offer customization options for music and color grading. Red Flags: They outsource to freelancers who’ve never met you or attended your wedding. Their editing style seems inconsistent across different weddings. They have vague delivery timelines (or worse, no timeline at all). They charge hidden fees for revisions. 4. Do You Offer Raw Footage? While not every couple wants raw footage, asking this question gives you insight into their transparency and flexibility. My Personal Opinion: Put your Ego Aside and Just Offer the Raw Footage Already Here I am at it again! We are not just ruffling feathers here, I decided to try to blow them right off the bird. To me, this is when wedding videographers and photographers alike tend to get on their high horses to mask their ego and insecurities. What are you trying to hide by scoffing at potential clients who are asking if you offer raw footage? As a professional, it is our job to educate the clients as to what raw footage is, and provide clear boundaries for use and publication of the raw footage in your iron-clad contract. Although I do not inherently advertise that I offer raw footage in any of my packages or a la carte add ons on my website, if a couple asks for raw footage, I will gladly hand it over for an additional fee. But before doing so, I set expectations for what raw footage actually is: do they know what log footage is? Do they have the correct software to edit it? Do they know someone who is going to edit the footage for them? Instead of leading with judgment, I try my very best to lead with curiosity to better understand what the client is truly asking for. Raw footage can be a valuable keepsake for future anniversaries or to share special moments with family who couldn’t attend. Green Flags: They offer raw footage as an add-on option. They explain what raw footage entails (uncut, unpolished clips). They provide clear pricing and delivery details. They store footage for a certain period in case you want additional edits later. Red Flags: They refuse to provide raw footage or act defensive when asked. They charge an outrageous fee for access. They claim they “delete all raw files after editing” (yikes!). They deliver incomplete or low-quality raw files. 5. Will You Be the One Shooting My Wedding, or Will It Be an Associate? This question is especially important if you’re hiring a larger company with multiple associate shooters. You want to make sure the person you’ve built a relationship with during the planning process is the one capturing your special moments. Again, like with the editing process, this also screams impersonalization and lack of catering to each client specifically, which was addressed with question 3 in a more obvious way. Green Flags: They personally commit to filming your wedding. If they do send an associate, they provide examples of their work. They allow you to meet the associate ahead of time (i.e. in scheduled meetings). They maintain consistent editing style, even with different shooters. Red Flags: They send an associate without telling you. They can’t show you the associate’s portfolio. They dodge the question entirely. They hire freelancers with no experience in wedding videography. Final Thoughts Ladies, I get it — the wedding world is overwhelming. But asking these five questions will empower you to choose a videographer who aligns with your vision and values. Sometimes, the wedding videographer who is a one woman show and offers a personalized experience that is emotionally invested in your adoring your film, is worth its weight in gold for the quality of film you will receive. If you choose to go with a production company that seems like a good deal, please tamper expectations on the effort they'll put into filming and editing your wedding day. Your wedding film is an investment that will last a lifetime, so it’s worth finding someone who truly “gets” you and your love story. Remember, the right videographer will not only capture your day beautifully but will also make you feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. So, grab that wedding planning notebook and start asking the right questions!
